Ingredients

2 c. butter

2 t. almond extract

1 c. sugar

5 c. sifted flour

4 eggs, well-beaten

1/4 t. salt

Directions

Cream butter; add sugar and cream until light.
Add well-beaten eggs and extract.
Sift together flour and salt and add to first mixture.
Mix well.
Press dough through cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheet and form into O and S shapes.
Bake in moderate oven (350) 8-12 min.

Yield: 8-9 doz. spritz.

Notes

Mother liked to tell the story of when she was a little girl and they couldn’t find her anywhere in the house. Then they looked in the icebox, and there she was, eating butter. (Henry Walker)
